Michael Jordan was very fond of betting and casinos

Cards, money, Michael Jordan

The gambling habits of basketball’s most famous player, Michael Jordan, are legendary. Numerous scandals concerning his love of betting and winning, and sometimes losing, have often been front-page news in the international press. Journalists literally “lived” from the new material that the athlete threw at them, even if unknowingly.

Michael Jordan is a gambler

In addition to his gambling addiction, Jordan has often become the “hero of the day” in the media, as he was caught in not the most unpleasant situations. One thing is just to play a game or two in roulette, the other is to lose a decent amount. The main places where Michael has displayed one of his many talents are casinos and golf courses.

To criticise the basketball player for gambling is not entirely correct. Many experts point out that it was this trait which was decisive in shaping his career. He became the first billionaire athlete. After his career ended, he is still earning millions each year, and his business continues to thrive.

Chicago Bulls conspiracy

One of the main unflattering assumptions about the athlete is that such a short duration of his career is not due to his desire to leave the big sport. The fact is that he was simply disqualified for his constant scandals and antics. But in order not to spoil the image of the same club, “Chicago Bulls”, it was decided to play nicely the situation and put everything in such a light, as if Michael really just decided to finish his career, devoting himself to other hobbies.

There is an opinion, which reinforced more than once members of the coaching staff of the famous club, as if Jordan was constantly involved in all kinds of betting. His rivals were teammates, journalists, celebrities and many others. He was spotted gambling, where the stakes were several times the price of even an average car. The basketball player is also considered to be a big fan of playing golf for money.

Michael Jordan and gambling

Journalist slander

The image of a gambler in the beginning was only to the advantage of “His Air”. Many loved him even more as he was portrayed as an ordinary man with his sins. But the power of the journalistic word played a cruel trick. The media took advantage of the star basketball player’s “vice” and turned everything against him. So, instead of an ordinary sinful mortal, Michael became someone who was so addicted to gambling that he was even willing to take risks before crucial games of his club.

Jordan is credited with a relationship with James ‘Slim’ Buller. The latter is a known supplier of narcotics. Having got “in the clutches” of the police, he was subjected to a thorough search, during which a cheque for 75 thousand dollars was found. That would have been fine, except that Michael’s signature was on the document. At first it was said to be an IOU, but eventually it turned out to be the basketball player’s payment for the loss.

Jordan’s serious sins

The athlete’s team managed to settle the case, as there was a lot at stake – sponsorship, advertising, contracts, etc. Only a few months after things had calmed down, another problem arose. A loan shark, Eddie Doe, had been murdered. During a search of his home, three cheques were found that also bore Jordan’s signature.

The total amount was $108,000. As a result, it was proved that the financial documents served as payment for Michael’s debts to Dow. Scandalous stories abound as far as Jordan’s gambling is concerned. Not all act as truth, but there are some whose veracity has been proven. On the other hand, it is unlikely that the basketball player could have become so successful without such a predilection.
